Sowing Seeds of Sustainability: GP Surigao’s Mangrove Planting Activity

We are pleased to announce the successful Mangrove Planting Activity undertaken by GP Surigao (“GSTI”) on April 12, 2025, in the coastal barangay of Day-asan, Surigao City.

This significant environmental initiative brought together a dedicated group of individuals, including enthusiastic employees from GSTI, committed workers from SAC (MSP), knowledgeable evaluators from the Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO), and supportive representatives from Brgy. Day-asan.

Early in the morning, at 6:00 AM, the participants embarked on bancas, navigating the waterways to reach the designated planting site nestled amidst the unique landscape of floating villages.

Driven by a shared vision for a greener community and under the proactive leadership of our Port Community Services Officer (PCSO), Sonnielene Orgil, the activity proved to be a resounding success. A total of 38 participants worked diligently to plant an impressive 4,000 mangrove propagules, contributing to the vital rehabilitation and preservation of this crucial coastal ecosystem.
