Globalport Tacloban Leads Successful Mangrove Planting in Sta. Rita

Last October 17, 2025, Globalport Tacloban, in partnership with the Municipality of Sta. Rita and MENRO successfully held a Mangrove Planting Activity at Brgy. Dampigan, Sta. Rita, Samar. 

A total of *3,800 mangrove propagules were planted by volunteers and partners from the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Philippine Coast Guard, Philippine Army, Philippine National Police, Bureau of Fire Protection, Leyte Normal University, Central Sto. Niño de Tacloban Eagles Club, Philippine Dental Association, Junior Chamber International of Sta. Rita, Sta. Rita Youth, EMET Port Builders, Strategic Alternative Corp., and GTTI volunteers. 

The event aimed at strengthening environmental protection and community resilience. These mangroves will serve as natural barriers against storm surges and flooding, while also serving as breeding grounds for fish, crustaceans, and shellfish which will help in providing alternative livelihoods for local communities.

Participants expressed their appreciation for Globalport’s effort and commitment to environmental sustainability. It served as both an inspiration and a call to action, highlighting the responsibility of everyone to protect and preserve our natural resources for future generations.
