Globalport Tacloban Leads Coastal Clean-Up for “Clean Seas for Blue Economy”

On September 21, 2024, Globalport Tacloban, in partnership with the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA), Tacloban Harbor Port Authority (THPA), Hi-Tone, and Vertex, participated in the International Coastal Clean-Up with the theme “Clean Seas for Blue Economy.” The event started early in the morning at the Port of Tacloban, where volunteers from various organizations and local community members gathered to address marine pollution.

This initiative aims to reduce ocean trash, eliminate harmful pollutants, and create cleaner oceans and shorelines for future generations. By actively engaging in clean-up efforts, we are positively impacting the marine environment, crucial for marine life sustainability and overall planet health. As part of the event, the PPA organized a Zumba session for attendees to socialize, network, and connect with like-minded individuals passionate about environmental protection. This physical activity helped energize participants before the clean-up activities began.

A total of 124 kilograms of trash were collected and properly disposed of during the event, showcasing the collective effort to improve the local environment’s health. This clean-up not only reduces water pollution but also raises awareness and promotes responsible behaviors for environmental conservation.
